Jumping Position

Or Two Points Position

jumper

Do to a request I decided to make a page to help all of you who don't really know what a good two point ( jumping position ) is. Now I'm not a total know it all so I don't have a lot to tell you. I will just go into how I was told to jump and what is a good jumping position in my opinion. If your new to jumping I would find out more from someone who really knows ( like an instructor or something ). If you would like to add something to this page ( such as hints or suggestions, please be nice about them ) than e-mail me and I will put them up !
This is a list of what happens to your body ( your movements ) while riding the 8 stages of jumping. Any question please knowyourhorse@hotmail.com  Also I should tell you I made it very simply so jumping position doesn't seem quite so hard to understand. If you need more details please e-mail me.
  1. Approach : looking straight ahead to ensure a straight and calm approach.
  2. Take off : As your pony leaves the ground lift your weight off the saddle.
  3. Take off ( mid take off ) : lean forward and keep the head well up.
  4. In the air : During flight take the weight onto the thigh and ankle.
  5. In the air ( mid air ) : As the pony begins to land, gradually regain contact with the saddle.
  6. Landing ( mid landing ) : Try to keep a line from the ponies mouth through the hands to the elbows.
  7. Landing : try to land as smoothly and lightly as possible.
  8. get away : With the next jump in sight, control the pace and direction as in 1.

" Heels are pushed down "
" Looking forward and ahead "
" good contact with the mouth ( that could be better though ) "
" out of the saddle "
" looks balanced "
